Wirral
Area Commander: Chief Superintendent John Martin
I'm John Martin, the Area Commander for Wirral. I'm responsible
for day-to-day policing in the area and I'm committed to making
your community a safer place to live, work or visit.
Information about Wirral
The Wirral area is divided into eight neighbourhoods, each with
its own policing team led by an Inspector. These
neighbourhoods are:
- East Wallasey
- Moreton & West Wallasey
- Hoylake
- Upton, Prenton & Egerton
- Laird Street
- Birkenhead
- Bromborough
- Heswall
Wirral BCU covers the whole of the peninsula, comprising of
eight separate Neighbourhood Policing Teams, four Neighbourhood
Patrol Hubs, two general Enquiry Offices at Wallasey and
Birkenhead, and an investigative wing situated at Birkenhead.
Wirral is a collection of diverse communities including some rural
areas of affluence alongside densely populated areas of high
deprivation, and it is this mix that makes it such a challenging
and rewarding area to police.
Area priorities
I've set the 2012 policing priorities for the area by working
with local partners and more importantly, by listening to your
concerns. These are:
- Serious Acquisitive Crime
- Knife Crime
- Most Serious
Violence
- Domestic Violence
- Anti-Social Behaviour
- Organised Crime Groups
I have been the Area Commander on the Wirral since July 2010 and
I am proud of the continued excellent service that my team delivers
to all of our communities. We continue to make great inroads
into reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and improving
satisfaction. Going forward we will continue to seek to
improve, and our focus will be on dealing with victims and those
most vulnerable members of our communities more effectively and
compassionately, and bringing offenders to justice.
