Beat the burglar

There will be no hiding place for burglars in Kirkby as Merseyside Police and Knowsley Council are working in partnership to clamp down on burglary within this area of Knowsley.

We will be carrying out targeted operations and high visibility patrols to arrest offenders.

Please follow this simple list of crime prevention advice to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of crime.

Simple Steps

  • Secure all doors - if your front and back doors are not secure, then neither is your home. Try to ensure that your main entrance doors are fitted with secure, substantial locks.
  • Windows - secure all windows before leaving the house and fit window locks.
  • Lighting - if you don't already have security lighting in place consider having it installed.
  • Burglar Alarm - remember to put it on at all times when leaving the house, and when you go to bed at night.
  • Garages and Sheds - fit a substantial padlock and never leave any outbuildings unlocked.
  • Security Marking - remember to mark your property with your postcode and/or address
  • Keys - never leave keys on show and do not leave them anywhere near the front door. Put keys away in a secure place when you go to bed.
  • Home Watch - consider volunteering to become a homewatch leader or member within your area.
  • Curtains/Blinds - close them so theives cannot see what valuables you have such as plasma TVs, Ipods, Laptops, Jewellery, Cash.

By taking small simple steps to make your home a safer place, you immediately reduce your chances of becoming a victim and it helps to make you feel safer.
