It's a crime that cuts across all social, cultural and religious boundaries and has devastating consequences for victims, their families and the wider community.

There were more than 25,000 reported incidents of domestic abuse in Merseyside last year.

Merseyside Police takes domestic abuse very seriously. Together with our partners and support agencies, we are committed to preventing domestic abuse by supporting and working with victims bringing offenders to justice.

Each policing area in Merseyside has a dedicated Family Crime Investigation Unit (FCIU). In each unit there is a detective inspector and experienced sergeants and constables who investigate reports of domestic abuse, including child protection issues.
