How to make a complaint against Merseyside Police

If you wish to make a complaint against Merseyside Police there are a variety of ways of doing so:

  • Contact PSD directly using any of the contact details (see link below)

  • Go into any police station and ask for your complaint to be recorded

  • Contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau, Neighbourhood warden, Youth Offending Team or Probation service who can all provide you with information.

  • Contact a solicitor or your M.P. who can make a complaint for you.

  • Nominate someone to act on your behalf

  • Write to the Chief constable or Merseyside Police Authority

  • Contact the Independent Police Complaints Commission using the link on this page.

We will ask how you prefer to be contacted.

Please note that where a third party (including a solicitor) makes a complaint on your behalf you must provide written authority for them to act on your behalf.
