Witness Appealing Following Fatal RTC On Walton Lane, Walton

Merseyside Police can confirm that the 37-year-old cyclist involved in a fatal collision with a motorcycle on Walton Lane, Walton last night (Thursday, September 6), died from head injuries.

A Home Office post mortem was carried out this afternoon (Friday, September 7) to establish the man's cause of death.

Officers from Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Department are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a white van driver and a taxi driver following a fatal RTC in Walton last night (Monday, September 6).

Officers investigating the RTC on Walton Lane, in which a 37-year-old man died, are appealing for witnesses to the collision involving a blue and white Yamaha motorcycle and a cyclist.

They are particularly keen to speak to the drivers of a van similar to a white Ford Transit Connect that was parked at the site of the collision at around 6.30pm and a black Hackney cab that passed by the scene immediately afterwards.

Police do not believe the drivers of the van were involved in the incident and would like to speak to them as witnesses.

Officers are conducting house-to-house enquiries and are seeking CCTV.

A 22-year-old man from Walton has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. 

A Home Office post mortem to establish the cause of death of the 37-year-old man will take place this afternoon.

Merseyside Police has arrested a 22-year-old man from Walton on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal road traffic collision on Walton Lane last night (Thursday, 6 September 2012).

He will be questioned by officers at a police station on Merseyside.

Walton Lane was reopened to traffic at about 10.30pm last night.

And the condition of the 22-year-old motorcyclist is no longer described as serious.

 


  

Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal Road traffic collision in Walton this evening (Thursday, 6 September, 2012) to come forward.

At about 6.30pm emergency services were called to Walton Lane near to Florence Street to a report of a road traffic collision involving a pedal cycle and a motorcycle.

The pedal cyclist, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Fazakerley Hospital where he later died.

The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man from Walton, has been taken to Fazakerley Hospital, where his condition is described as serious.

The scene has been cordoned off for examination and CCTV is being sought from the area.

An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is underway.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area at the present time.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone with information to contact them.
