A man is believed to have run towards the victim threatening to hurt him if he did not hand over the cash. A brief struggle has then taken place before the offender ran off with a large amount of money across Holmefield Road and down South Mossley Hill Road.

The victim was left shaken and not badly hurt,. He suffered very minor scratches during the struggle.

He is described as a white man, aged between 18 and 25, around 6ft tall and of slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded jumper with the hood up and spoke with a Liverpool accent.

Detective Constable Sarah Clayton from Admiral Street CID, said: "This was a frightening experience for the victim. Robberies are rare in this area and I am hoping someone will have witnessed some unusual or suspicious activity on this particular morning and who may be able to help our investigation.

"I would particularly like to hear from anyone who recognises the person in this CCTV image or who saw someone like this in the area on Monday morning. Information like that, however small, could help us trace the person responsible."
