Serious RTC, St Helens
Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses following a serious
road traffic collision between two off-road motorbikes in St
Helens yesterday afternoon (Sunday, September 16).
Officers were called by paramedics to the site of the "Dream"
sculpture, in Jubits Lane, Sutton Manor just after 3.35pm,
following reports that three men had been seriously injured. The
M62 was closed in both directions to accommodate two of the men, a
15-year-old and a 28-year-old from Clockface, being airlifted to
Aintree Hospital. Both are described as being in critical
condition. A third man who is 19-years-old and also from Clockface
was taken by ambulance to Whiston Hospital. He has serious
injuries, but his condition is not thought to be life threatening
at this time.
The motorway remained fully closed until 4.50pm when the
west-bound carriageway was reopened. The motorway was fully opened
by 5.15pm.
It is thought that there were a number of people at the scene at
time the of the collision and the site is clearly visible from the
M62. Police are keen to talk to anyone who may have seen the
collision or the bikes in the area earlier.
