CCTV Witness Appeal Robbery - Aigburth

Detectives investigating the robbery of an 81-year-old woman in Aigburth have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in case he can help with their enquiries.
 
The 81-year-old was walking along St Michael's Church Road towards the shops on Aigburth Road shortly before 10am on Monday, 2 October 2012 when the incident happened.
 
The offender, a white man in his 30s or 40s, approached her at the junction of Alpass Road and pushed her over causing injuries to her right hand, elbow and hip.
 
He then stole her purse containing cash and keys before running off towards St Michaels train station.
 
The woman was helped by several passersby and taken to hospital for treatment for a broken hip where she remains in a stable condition.
 
Detectives have been carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area as well as speaking to shoppers and commuters to see if anyone saw the incident or the offender running off.
 
DC Chris Bromilow from Admiral Street CID said: "We have released CCTV images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with this incident in case he has information that could help our enquiries and ask the man, or anyone who recognises him, to call us.
 
"This was a cowardly attack on a vulnerable member of our community and incidents of this nature are rare in St Michaels.
 
"I ask anyone with any information in connection to the incident to call us."
