Update: Shots Fired - Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley
Merseyside Police has arrested a 25-year-old man from Fazakerley
on suspicion of money laundering after shots were fired at a house
on Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley.
Detectives from the specialist Matrix team who were
investigating the shots fired arrested the man following the
recovery of £6,000 from an address in Fazakerley. He has been taken
to a police station where he will be interviewed by
detectives.
Merseyside Police can confirm that it is investigating
following an incident in which shots were fired in Fazakerley on
Sunday night.
Officers were called to Longmoor Lane shortly before midnight on
Sunday (October 21, 2012) following reports of shots fired.
On arrival they found damage had been caused to a property in
the street and evidence of a firearms discharge but no-one
injured.
A search of the area is underway and the Kirkby-bound
carriageway has been closed to allow a full forensic examinaton in
daylight. Officers are also continuing to carry out house-to-house
enquiries this morning.
The type of weapon used is yet to be established and at this
early stage the motive for the attack remains unclear and is under
investigation.
A highly visible police presence is currently in the area to
reassure the community and residents are encouraged to contact the
police if they have any concerns or information that could help
catch the offenders.
