Witness Appeal - Arson - Campbell Drive - Huyton

A joint police and fire service investigation is underway following reports of an arson in Huyton in the early hours of this morning (Monday, 5 November 2012).

Emergency services were called to Campbell Drive shortly before 4am after receiving reports that a blue Ford Kuga had been set on fire causing significant damage to the car. It is believed that an industrial firework was also used in the incident.

Campbell Drive has been closed at its junctions with Pilch Lane and Stuart Drive to allow for forensic examination.

Officers have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and seeking CCTV.

DS Patrick Fogarty said: "We have launched a joint investigation with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service into this incident and are keen to hear from anyone who has any information that could help us with our enquiries.

"At this early stage of the investigation we are working with MFRS to try and identify the exact nature of the device used and the motive behind this incident

"Incidents of this nature are very rare and we are working hard to identify who was responsible to bring them to justice."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6565 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
