Sexual Assault - Childwall
Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a
sexual assault in Childwall on Monday, 21 January.
At about 12.20pm a woman was walking along Woolton Road near to
the junction of Taggart Avenue when she became aware of a man
walking behind her. The man approached the woman near to Salisbury
Park and tried to engage in conversation with her. As the woman
went to walk away from the man he pushed her against a wall and
sexually asssaulted her. The woman then screamed and ran away.
Although uninjured the woman has been left very shaken following
her ordeal.
After the matter was reported to the police a search of the area
and house-to-house enquiries were undertaken.
The offender is described as being Chinese, aged in his late
30's or early 40's, about 5 ft 5 tall of medium build with short
black/brown straight hair with grey bits around the hairline. He
had brown eyes and spoke in broken English. He was wearing a dark
coloured waist length jacket, dark coloured gloves and dark
coloured Converse trainers.
DCI Sally Johnson, said: "This was a dreadful attack on a woman
who had merely been on her way home. She has been left shocked and
distressed by what happened to her and we are doing everything we
can to find the offender.
"Woolton Road is a busy thoroughfare and I would appeal for
anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or anyone fitting this
description in the area around that time, to call us.
"In particular we believe an elderly couple and a boy in a SFX
uniform may have witnessed the incident and I would urge them to
come forward as they may have information vital to our
investigation.
"I would like to reassure the community that this type of attack
is very rare and I am appealing for local people to come forward if
they can help our investigation."
