Further Update: Shots Fired - Landford Avenue - Firearm Recovered
Merseyside Police executed two search warrants at addresses on
Waresley Crescent yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 12 February).
Searches were carried out at both addresses and a shotgun was
recovered from one of the properties. A 23-year-old man from Norris
Green has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and
is being interviewed by detectives.
Merseyside Police can confirm that officers conducting
a search following a firearms discharge last night (Monday, 11
February) on Landford Avenue have this afternoon (Tuesday, 12
February) discovered a firearm.
Officers conducting a search in Waresley Crescent have
discovered, what they believe to be, a shotgun.
The weapon has been seized for forensic
examination.
The investigation into the firearms discharge is
ongoing.
Merseyside Police can confirm an investigation is
underway after evidence of a firearms discharge was found in north
Liverpool last night (Monday, February 11).
Shortly after 8pm patrols were deployed to the
Landford Avenue area of Walton after several people reported
hearing gunshots.
On arrival officers found no-one injured or any damage
to any house but a search revealed evidence that a shotgun had been
discharged in the street.
A Ford Focus was later found abandoned nearby and has
been seized for a forensic examination.
An area of Landford Avenue remains cordoned off and
investigators have been at the scene carrying out house-to-house
enquiries.
A highly visible police presence is in the area to
reassure the community.
