Update - Device Discovered - Springfield Park
The EOD have removed the item for further examination and the
scene has now been stood down.
Road closures have been removed.
Police would like to thank the public for their
patience whilst this matter was dealt with.
Merseyside Police, alongside other emergency services,
is currently dealing with an incident in north Liverpool this
afternoon (Thursday, 7 March).
Emergency services were called at about 2pm to a construction
site in Springfield Park near to East Prescot Road after reports
that an explosive device was found.
Emergency services are in attendance and a cordon has been set
up around the device as a precautionary measure.
The Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit (EOD) are in
attendance and the device is in the process of being examined.
Road closures are currently in place: East Prescot Road is
closed between the Sainsbury's supermarket and the Knotty Ash
public house.
Closures are also in place at the junctions of East Prescot Road
and Eaton Road, Eaton Road and Thomas Lane, Queens Drive and East
Prescot Road.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area at the present time and
follow diversions that have been put in place.
