Sefton Area Commander Superintendent Graeme Robson issues updates to the community following incidents in Sefton in recent days:
“I know we're all currently living in an extremely unsettling time due to COVID-19 and we understand that this, accompanied with the extra worry of serious violence and crime, means that our communities are quite rightly concerned about their own safety.
“We've seen two fatalities in Sefton as well as firearms discharges which are undoubtedly all extremely serious and worrying incidents. We however, remain committed to thoroughly investigating all reports of crime and hope the community continue to help us by providing information so we can bring dangerous people to justice. This behaviour is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated by the wider law abiding public."
A 21 year old man has been arrested following a warrant at a flat in Walton Park yesterday (19th March).
The warrant follows intelligence regarding a firearms discharge on 29th November last year on Timon Avenue where a man suffered gunshot injuries to his back, a domestic incident in December last year as well as reports of a brick being thrown through a window of a property on Pembrook Rd, Bootle on Christmas Eve.
Merseyside Police have welcomed the sentencing of a 30 year old man from Southport following a drugs warrant.
Officers gathered in Bootle early today (14th Feb) ahead of a full morning of activity involving open land and underwater searches as well as a series of warrants.
The area of focus was South Sefton with the aim of identifying those involved in organised crime.
We are appealing for information after shots were fired in Bootle last night (Tuesday 1 October).
At 10.10pm, police were called to Cornwall Road to reports of shots being heard in the area. Armed officers attended and found damage to a car and evidence in the street of a firearm having been discharged.
