Violent crimes are serious and can be very distressing for the victim.
A violent crime is committed when a victim is harmed by or threatened with violence, and include incidents such as;

- Knife crime
- Hate crime (including disability, faith, sexual orientation and race)
- Domestic violence
- Sexual violence
- Robbery
- Terrorism
Violent crimes can happen anywhere and in some cases, the victim knows the person who attacks them.
