A misconduct hearing was held remotely on Friday 17 January 2025 commencing at 10.15am and concluded on the same day.
The hearing panel was chaired by Mr Paul Forster a Legally Qualified Chair under the Police Conduct Regulations 2020.
An officer appeared before the misconduct hearing in relation to several breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour for Authority, Respect & Courtesy and Discreditable Conduct.
The allegations related to incidents occurring between the 20 March 2023 and 11 June 2023, when the officer has made offensive and discriminatory comments towards colleagues, thus failing to demonstrate respect and courtesy towards them or their families.
In one instance the officer sent a phone message to a family member of a male colleague, which sought to out a heterosexual colleague as being gay, which in turn caused offence to a female colleague who witnessed the behaviour.
The breaches were proven by the panel at the level of Gross Misconduct and the officer was issued with a sanction of a Final Written Warning for 3 years.
