**Update** Appeal for information following fatal collision in St Helens

**Update published on Thursday, 8 November at 8.10am**

We are appealing for information following a fatal collision in St Helens yesterday evening (Wednesday, 7 November 2018) involving a pedestrian and a car.

A report was received at 5.50pm that a car had been in collision with a man in his 20s on the St Helens Linkway on the Rainhill-bound carriageway, near to the junction with Chapel Lane. 

He was taken to hospital for treatment where he was later sadly pronounced deceased. His next of kin have been informed and are now being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries into the incident.
