A Section 60 order has been authorised for the Toxteth area for a fifth time this week after three men were injured on Saturday night (4 April 2020).
A total of six people have been arrested in connection with the incidents in which one man was stabbed on Carter Street, a second was shot on Gwent Street and a third was shot on Hatherley Close. The incidents happened between around 9.55pm and 10.15pm, and enquiries are ongoing. All three of the injured males have been discharged from hsopital.
The Order will begin at 3pm today (Thursday, 9 April) and will conclude at 4am tomorrow (Friday, 10 April).
The Order – the fifth of its kind this week - gives officers enhanced stop and search powers in a specified geographic location for a set period of time. Officers are authorised to search any males aged between 14-50 years in the location shown on the map.
The area covered is bounded by Upper Parliament Street, Smithdown Road, Hartington Road, Croxteth Road, Devonshire Road, Admiral Street and back to Upper Parliament Street.
Anyone with information on the incidents is urged to come forward and speak to us, either directly or via @MerPolCC, 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. We will act on all information to remove those who cause harm from your streets.
