We can confirm that a man has been arrested today, 14 February, on suspicion of a sexual offence involving a child in Birkenhead on Thursday 5 December.
A 29-year-old man from Toxteth was arrested on suspicion of causing a female child under 16 to engage in sexual activity.
He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
Detective Inspector Tara Denn said: “It is really important that if you are suspicious about any child at risk of offences like this to get in touch with us so that we can take action.”
