Officers have welcomed the sentencing of a 44 year old man from Whiston after he was found guilty of theft, possession of an offensive weapon and racially aggravated assault.
Shane Unsworth of no fixed address threatened a member of staff at Tesco on Dale Street, Liverpool on 15th March who confronted him after he had attempted to steal food.
Unsworth then smashed two beer bottles and used them to again, threaten the staff member whilst also using verbal racial abuse towards him. Officers detained Unsworth shortly afterwards.
He appeared in court and has now been sentenced to 6 months in prison.
