Update - Thursday, 5 March
A second Section 60 stop and search order has been authorised for the Beechwood and Noctorum areas of Wirral following recent tensions.
The order will begin at 6pm today (Thursday, 5 March) and will conclude at 5am tomorrow. Section 60 is a power under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 that allows police officers to stop and search. Where a Section 60 is in place, it means officers can stop and search individuals in a certain area, for example, when there is evidence that serious violence has taken place or may take place.
Following a section 60 in the same area which was in place from 6pm yesterday (Wednesday, 4 March) until 5am today, a total of 15 people were arrested for various offences including possession of a class A drug.
Anyone with information on criminal activity in the area is asked to contact @MerPolCC, call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
