A man has been charged with the murder of his wife in Prescot in the early hours of Monday 16 November.
At around 1.20am, emergency services were called to Tinling Close to reports a woman in her 50s had been found seriously injured. She was sadly pronounced deceased at around 1.40am.
The victim has been formally identified as 56-year-old old Paula Leather, from Prescot.
A Home Office post mortem has been carried out and has determined the cause of death as stab wounds to the face and neck.
Her family is being supported by specialist officers.
George Leather, 60 years, of Tinling Close, Prescot was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with murder. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday 18 November.
