Detectives are appealing for information following a suspected arson in Liscard in the early hours of today (Saturday 24 April).
Emergency services were called to The Vineyard pub on Seaview Road at 1am to reports of a fire at the premises. Significant damage was caused to the interior of the pub but nobody reported injured.
It was reported two white males wearing face coverings, and with grey jackets, smashed a window at the pub at about 12.45am before starting a fire and leaving on foot in the direction of Edinburgh Road.
A joint investigation has now been launched with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Matt Caton said: “Thankfully nobody was hurt in this incident, but there are a number of businesses and residential addresses on this street who were put in real danger by the reckless actions of the offenders.
“If you saw or heard anything suspicious on Seaview Road or in the surrounding area, or captured anyone running off on home CCTV, dashcam or other devices, please come forward and we will take action.”
