We’re appealing for information following a stabbing in Childwall this afternoon, Monday 19 April.
At around 3.05pm, officers were called to Childwall Valley Road after it was reported that a 15-year-old male had been stabbed in the leg outside the shops on Childwall Fiveways.
Emergency services attended and the victim has been taken to hospital for his injuries which are not believed to be serious.
A group of around five males were reported to have left the scene on foot in the direction of Broadgreen Road.
An investigation is underway and officers are in the area to carry out forensic, CCTV, and witness enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Graeme Osborne said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed this afternoon and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious behaviour in the Childwall Fiveways area to please contact us.
“This is an appalling incident and we are working to establish the exact circumstances and identify those involved. The use of weapons on our streets is unacceptable and can result in serious injury or worse. We will be doing all we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
“I would encourage anyone who may have information to assist the investigation or who may have captured dashcam footage or mobile phone camera footage to please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, on Twitter, Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook or call 101 quoting ref. 592 of 19/04. You can also contact Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
