
An investigation is underway following reports of a stabbing in Old Swan today (Wednesday 14 April).
At around 3.15pm, police received a report that a male and female had been stabbed in the chest and back on Southgate Road.
Emergency services attended and both victims have been taken to hospital for their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
A 21-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to a police station for questioning.
A knife has also been recovered by officers.
Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and police remain in the area to speak to witnesses and carry out forensic and CCTV enquiries.
Chief Inspector Stephen Hardy said: “While we have made one arrest, we are still in the very early stages of an investigation into the stabbing of two people on Southgate Road this afternoon.
“We understand this will be a shocking incident for the local community. Patrols will remain in the area this evening to gather information and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or has CCTV or dashcam footage, to please contact us.”
