Detectives have charged a fifth man following the recovery of a firearm in Toxteth in March.
At around 7.45pm on Thursday 11 March, officers attended an address on Corinto Street, Toxteth, following reports a male was in possession of a firearm.
Two males were detained in a Mercedes outside the address and two further males and a female were detained in the garden of the property.
Following a short foot chase, officers also detained a male on nearby Pickwick Street.
A suspected handgun was recovered in a garden near to the address.
Following enquiries, 27-year-old Dominic Valerio of no fixed abode has now been charged with conspire to sell / transfer a pistol it being a prohibited weapon. He will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court today, Friday 23 April.
Four men were previously charged, as follows and all remain under investigation:
Thomas Lawler, 23 years, of Corinto Street, Toxteth was charged with selling/transferring a prohibited weapon and Possession of ammunition
James McGlade, 24 years of Lower Hall Street, St Helens, was charged with selling/transferring a prohibited weapon.
Sefer Allushi, 26 years, of no fixed abode and Erald Sida, 31 years, of Nursery Road, Bloxwich, Walsall, were both charged with selling/transferring a prohibited weapon and possession of a firearm.
