Officers in Huyton are introducing another Section 60 order this evening (Monday 25 April) following recent incidents in the area.
The Section 60 will begin at 3pm today and remain in place until 4am tomorrow (Tuesday 27 April).
The Order, under S60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, gives officers enhanced stop and search powers to stop males aged 12-45 in the area (pictured) and is designed to minimise serious violence.
The area covered by the order is bounded by Croxteth Lane M57 bridge to the extended footpath from Deysbrook Lane; to Mab Lane; on to Princess Drive; to Finch Road; on to Finch Lane; to Dovecot Avenue; on to Pilch Lane; to Pilch Lane East; on to A5080; to M57 and back to Croxteth Lane bridge.
Community Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: "These enhanced stop and search powers have been introduced following a number of incidents in the area including the tragic murder of Connor Dockerty and the stabbing of a 15-year-old male on a footpath on nearby Greenway park on Friday.
“This Section 60 will give us added powers to stop people in the area affected and is aimed at preventing further incidents, protecting people of all ages who have every right to live in the area free of the fear of witnessing or becoming involved in violent crime.
“Our officers regularly patrol Huyton, and I hope the people who live there will welcome the fact they will again see additional officers in the area covered this evening.”
