A man has been charged and 58 fixed penalty notices for Covid regulation breaches have been issued following a party in Kirkdale last night, Saturday, 10 April.

At around 8.50pm, it was reported that a party was being held at an address in Rosalind Way.

Officers attended and found a number of people in attendance, along with music equipment and evidence of drug use. Bottles were thrown and threats were also made towards patrols on arrival, with one officer sustaining a minor injury.

The organiser of the party was issued with a £10,000 fine for breaching Covid regulations. 57 people were also issued with Covid fixed penalty notices of £200.

39-year-old Kenneth Wilson, of Wulstan Street, Kirkdale, was arrested and charged with a Section 4A public order offence and possession of cannabis.  He has been released on bail to next appear at court on Wednesday, 28 April.

A 32-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a constable in execution of duty and assaulting an emergency worker.  He has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Chief Inspector Phil Mullally said: “Incidents such as this are wholly unacceptable and we will continue to take robust action against anyone who continues to blatantly breaches Covid regulations, which are in place for the benefit of all of our safety.

“Despite the easing of some lockdown measures, the rule of six, or meetings between two households outside only still applies, and gatherings such as the one seen in Kirkdale last night will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

“An investigation is ongoing and you can report any matters concerning Covid and the current legislation to us @MerPolCC or through Merseyside Police’s website https://www.merseyside.police.uk/.”
