Yesterday (Monday 19 April) we received a report of an altercation between a group of youths in South Liverpool.
At around 4.10pm it was reported that a fight took place between a group of around 20 male and female youths on Allerton Road. It is understood a further altercation then took place in Calderstones Park.
A 13-year-old girl was reported to have been assaulted and the matter is now under investigation.
Officers attended the scene and spoke with the victim who suffered minor injuries and was left extremely shaken by the incident.
High visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area around Calderstones Park.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and Merseyside Police Safer Schools Officers are liaising with the schools of those believed to be involved.
Community Policing Inspector Neil Birkett said: “We at Merseyside Police will not tolerate anti-social behaviour of this nature. The incident yesterday was shocking and has left a girl injured. I hope that all those involved will think very carefully about their actions.
“If anyone was in the Allerton Road and Calderstones Park areas yesterday afternoon and has any further information then I’d urge you to come forward, either directly or through Crimestoppers to help us with our enquiries."
