We are appealing for information after shots were fired in Huyton tonight, Monday 16 August.
At around 9.45pm, armed officers were called to Hillside Road to reports of shots being fired near to Longview shops. Evidence has been found to confirm shots were fired, and enquiries are ongoing to confirm if anyone was injured. House-to-house, CCTV and witness enquiries continue at the scene and officers will remain in the area to speak to the community and gather information.
Chief Inspector Geoff Stewart said: “These are the early stages of an investigation, during which it is establish exactly what happened tonight, and preserve any evidence. If you were in the area, passing by or live locally, you could be able to help. Your CCTV, dashcam, doorbell footage may present us with opportunities to find those responsible and quickly take them and their weapon off the streets.
“If you heard or saw anyone suspicious in the area tonight, or any vehicles driving off at speed around 9.45pm, check any devices which could capture that detail.
“When communities stand strong and pass on information, to us or via other channels, we can make these safer places to live and work, and ensure those who would endanger the public are put behind bars. Gun crime in Merseyside has fallen dramatically in the past few years, due in no small part to those people prepared to speak to us, directly or anonymously. However you choose to tell us, please come forward.”
