Officers have seized a revolver and arrested two men following a warrant carried out in West Derby yesterday, Tuesday 17 August.
At around 11.35pm, officers executed a warrant at an address on Bonsall Road. A revolver was recovered and two men detained.
A 54-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, both from West Derby, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
Both have been taken to a police station to be questioned by police.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Smith from our Firearms Investigation Team said: “This weapon will now be subject of forensic analysis to establish whether it is linked to any incidents in Merseyside or elsewhere, and to whom it belongs. Every gun and other weapon removed from our streets makes those communities safer and this work continues on a daily basis.
“If you suspect that weapons are being stored, carried or used where you are, please let us know. You can contact us directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers but however you get the information to us, we will take action.”
