Detectives investigating an assault in Litherland on Saturday, 18 December, are continuing their appeal for information.
At around 10pm we received a report that a man had been slashed across the face outside the Jubilee Inn on Hatton Hill Road.
Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital for a serious injury to his face. He has since been discharged.
Police believe that the suspect, a white man in his 20s with brown curly hair, left the scene in a black Volvo S60.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: “This would have been an awful incident for anyone to witness and we are working hard to find the person responsible and bring them to justice.
“Such violence in our communities can have catastrophic consequences and will not be tolerated.
“We know that there were many people in the area outside the pub on Saturday evening who may have witnessed the attack and so if you saw anything or captured any mobile phone footage then please let us know. Information you hold could be vital to our investigation.
“Similarly if you were driving in the Hatton Hill area on Saturday and have dashcam footage then please review it and let us know if you see anything suspicious. We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a black Volvo S60 in the area.
“Whether you come forward to us directly, or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, let us know so that we can take action.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or call 101 with reference 21000874479.
