We are appealing for information following an assault in a supermarket in Bootle yesterday, Wednesday 15 December.
At around 4.45pm we received a report that a man had been assaulted in Asda on Strand Road, Bootle.
It was reported that, following an verbal altercation with a male and a female, the man was assaulted with a wheel wrench.
The male was reported to have made off via the rear of the store on foot.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital for a facial injury. He has now been discharged.
CCTV and witness enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: “This would have been an appalling incident for anyone to witness and we are working to find the person responsible and bring them to justice.
“We will not tolerate such violence in our communities and if you were in Asda on the Strand yesterday and saw anything, or captured any mobile phone footage, then please let us know. Information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.
“Whether you let us know directly or anonymously, through Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
