We are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 12th December.
Officers were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service after the man, who is in his 20s, was found in the area of Seel Street at around 4.50am with slash wounds to his legs and buttocks and an injury to his hand.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
It is believed the injured man was involved in an altercation with another male prior to being injured.
An investigation is underway and CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Seel Street or Back Colquitt Street at around 4.50am today who saw or heard anything or any taxi drivers who were in the area who thinks they captured something on their dash cam to come forward and speak to us."
Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 21000858389.
