We have arrested two people and recovered a stolen bicycle and a motorcycle following recent robberies in Liverpool.
At around 4.30pm on Monday 13 December we received a report that at black Honda motorcycle was stolen from outside Subway on Bold Street.
At around 5.30pm we received a further report that three suspects approached a food delivery driver on Mill Road, West Derby.
It was reported that the driver, riding a black and red electric Carrera Vengance bicycle, was pushed to the ground and his bike and mobile phone were taken. The suspects then made off with the bike and phone on motorcycles, one of which was believed to be the back Honda stolen on Bold Street earlier that afternoon.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was left shaken by the incident.
Police investigating the robberies tracked the black Honda motorcycle to an address on Partridge Close, West Derby.
Officers attended the address and located the Honda and a further motorbike reported stolen from Old Church Yard, Liverpool, on Sunday 12 December. A quantity of suspected cannabis and white powder (suspected Class A drugs) were also recovered from the address.
A 17-year-old male from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, robbery, section 39 assault and possession of Class A and B drugs.
A 22-year-old woman from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and B drugs and handling stolen goods.
Both were taken into custody for questioning by officers. The 22-year-old woman has now been released under investigation and the 17-year old male has now been bailed with conditions pending further enquiries.
Enquiries into the incidents are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector Jennie Beck said: “The arrests made yesterday show that we simply will not tolerate such disgraceful attacks and robberies on those who are simply carrying out their business and trying to make a living in our communities.
“Following such robberies from delivery drivers, we have stepped up patrols in the city centre and surrounding areas to prevent similar incidents from occurring. We are also urging cyclists, particularly those undertaking takeaway deliveries, to be vigilant and report any incidents to police so that we can take action.
“While we have made two arrests, enquiries into the robberies remain ongoing. If you were in the Bold Street or Mill Lane areas on Monday evening and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please let us know. Information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.”
