We arrested a man seen by officers filming himself driving in Walton on Sunday (4 July).
At about 3pm, an officer waiting at traffic lights at the junction of Belmont Road and Oakfield Road noticed the driver of a black VW Tiguan filming himself out of the driver side window while driving through the junction.
The car was stopped and following a roadside test, a 26-year-old man from Norris Green was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He has been released under investigation.
Roads Policing Inspector Carl McNulty said: “Our officers proactively police the road network in Merseyside every day to keep road users safe, and are trained and experienced in spotting driving that risks public safety.
“Drivers who by the manner of their driving and those who get behind the having drunk too much alcohol or taken drugs pose a very real danger to pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers.
“We will continue to patrol Merseyside’s roads, but if you are aware of a motorist taking to the roads having taken drugs or drunk too much, please get in touch.”
