We have arrested a woman following an incident in Everton on Sunday 20 June.
At around 12.50pm we received a report that an altercation had taken place between a man and a woman at an address on Spencer Street at around 6am.
It was reported that the man had been injured during the altercation and there was some blood spotting present outside the address.
Officers attended the scene and recovered a knife.
A 33-year-old woman from Everton was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding.
She has now been released on bail pending further enquires.
The man is believed to have fled the scene and enquiries are ongoing to locate him.
CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are also being carried out by police.
Detective Inspector Nick Suffield said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries following an altercation yesterday where we believe a man was injured, potentially seriously.
“While we have made one arrest we would like to speak to the man as we believe he could have information vital to our investigation.
“If you have any further information about this incident, or saw anything or anyone suspicious in the Spencer Road area yesterday then please get in touch. Either tell us directly or anonymously through Crimestoppers and we will take action.”
