We have arrested a man following an incident on St Chad’s Drive, Kirkby, this afternoon (Saturday 20th March).
Emergency services were called at around 1.35pm to reports that a 39-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times in the face and back.
Following an investigation, officers arrested a 49-year-old man from Kirkby.
He was taken into custody where he is currently being questioned by police.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives are not looking or anyone else in connection with the incident and the police cordon in the area has now been lifted.
Detective Inspector Neil Fletcher said: “This was an appalling attack leaving a man hospitalised with serious injuries.
“I would like to reassure the community in Kirkby that we have one man in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”
