We are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary at a property in Speke last night, Thursday 6 May.
At around 11.30pm, it was reported that three men forced entry to a house on Alderwood Avenue. It is believed that one of the men was believed to in possession of a shotgun and the other two offenders were carrying knives. A 27-year-old woman who was in the house at the time was assaulted and suffered a bruised eye.
After searching the upstairs of the house the men made off and drove away in a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf.
The offenders are described as wearing black clothing, balaclavas and black gloves and spoke with Liverpool accents.
An investigation is now underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries have been carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector Paul Jones said: “It is traumatic enough to be broken into, especially when the offenders have been physically violent to those inside the house. Understandably, the victims were left incredibly distressed, and we’re keen to find whoever was responsible and bring them to justice.
"We would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Alderwood Avenue at around 11.30pm last night or saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area who may have mobile phone or dash cam footage to contact us as they may be able to assist with our enquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 21000291264.
