Image issued as police investigate aggravated theft of an electric bike in West Derby

We are issuing the image of a male who may have information to assist us with our investigation into an aggravated theft of an electric bike.
At around 5.25am on Sunday 2 May, the victim, a man in his 30s, was riding his electric bike to work on Belmont Road, West Derby.
When stopped at traffic lights on the junction with West Derby Road, he was approached by an unknown male who asked for a cigarette. When the victim refused, the suspect approached him from behind and struck him over the head, causing him to fall off his bike.
The suspect then struck him a number of times before taking the bike and making off along Belmont Road in the direction of Anfield.
The victim suffered minor injuries.
The bike stolen was a Silver ROCK electric bicycle with a black and white battery pack attached.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Constable Josh Banks said: “This was a shocking attack leaving a man injured and we are determined to find the person responsible.
“We believe that the male pictured may have information to help with our investigations, so if you know him please come forward.
“The incident happened at a major junction and so if you were driving in the area on Sunday morning and captured anything on your dashcam then please let us know. Any information you share with us could be vital in assisting us with our investigation.”
