We have launched an investigation following reports a man was assaulted in the Kirkby area today, Sunday 9th May.
At around 1.25pm we were called to Simonswood Lane in Kirkby following reports a 32 year-old man had been assaulted by two males.
The male has been taken to hospital with a laceration to his face. His injury is not believed to be life threatening. It is believed the attacked was targeted.
An investigation is underway and CCTV and forensic enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector Neil Fletcher said: “The investigation is in the very early stages and we are currently following a number of lines of enquiry.
“I would ask anyone who was in the area of Simonswood Lane this afternoon who saw the incident or saw the two males leave the scene immediately afterwards in a car to contact us.
“Incidents like this will not be tolerated and we will do everything in our powers to find the two people responsible and bring them to justice.
“I would urge the local community to come forward with any information, dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage they have in order to assist us with our investigation.”
