Man arrested for firearms offences following incident in Liverpool city centre

We have arrested a 27 year-old man for possession of a firearm following an incident in Liverpool city centre last night, Thursday 27th May, in which a man was shot.
Shortly after 11pm, officers were called to Colquitt Street following reports a man in his 20s had sustained a serious injury to his leg. It is believed the man was inside an apartment block when the incident happened.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been released from hospital.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Smith said: “We are working to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, and saw or heard any suspicious behaviour, to please get in touch.
“Gun crime will not be tolerated by Merseyside Police, and an extensive investigation is now underway. I would continue to urge anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to please contact us, as any information could prove vital to our investigation.”
