We can confirm a murder investigation is underway following an incident in Kirkby last night, Sunday 9 May.
At around 10.30pm, emergency services were called to an address in Clorain Road following reports that males had entered the address, before they left short time later and the occupant was found unresponsive with a head injury.
The victim, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he sadly died this morning, Monday, 10 May.
Following enquiries, two men, aged 32 and 34 were arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody for questioning.
An investigation is underway and detectives are keen to speak to anyone with information.
Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness said: “A man has tragically died following a suspected assault in Kirkby last night and we are working to establish the full circumstances.
“Two men remain in custody in connection with the incident, and I would ask anyone who saw or heard any suspicious behaviour in Clorain Road or the surrounding area last night, or has any CCTV or dash cam footage, to please get in touch. Officers will remain in the area today to carry out CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries.”
