We have arrested two men following the pursuit of a suspected stolen car in Crosby last night, Monday 31 May.
At around 11.40pm, Matrix Roads Policing officers, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter, began the pursuit of a Ford Fiesta travelling at speed in the Long Lane area of Liverpool.
After a pursuit in various areas of Sefton, the car was brought to a stop on Brownmoor Lane, Crosby around 12.40am. Two men were detained nearby, with the assistance of our dog unit.
A 26-year-old man from West Derby was arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.
A 28-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking of a motor vehicle; dangerous driving; drug driving; driving without a licence or insurance; and disqualified driving.
Both remain in custody for questioning.
Matrix Roads Policing Unit Inspector Stuart McIver said: "This was a great team effort to remove a vehicle travelling at excess speed across Merseyside.
"Such driving causes massive risk to other road users and pedestrians so if you have any information about suspected vehicle crime, drug driving or other dangerous behaviour, contact us and we will take action."
