At around 1.25pm it was reported that a man and a woman entered Superbooze convenience store on Lower Breck Road, demanding money from the cashier. The man was reported to have threatened the cashier with a machete.
They were reported to have made off from the scene on foot with a bottle of alcohol.
A further robbery was reported at a business on Rocky Lane on Friday, where a male and a female suspect were reported to have made off with a mobile phone.
The suspects were identified and a 47-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery.
He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
