Ammunition found during Safer Streets day of action in Kirkdale

Officers have found 30 shotgun rounds this morning in Kirkdale, as part of a multi-agency day of action in the Stanley Road area. The ammunition was found hidden in an alleyway wall.
Working alongside Liverpool City Council, Torus Housing, Riverside Housing, Everton in the Community and Rotunda Ltd, we have been carrying out searches, speaking to the community and carrying out street clean-ups in the area. A mobile police station has also been in the area.
This activity is part of the Safer Streets project in the area – launched in July to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
Local Policing Sergeant Sean Harrison said: “In July we pledged that we would listen to the concerns of local residents and today’s activity is a continuation of this pledge.
“It is pleasing to have today removed a significant amount of ammunition from circulation, which of course has the capacity to cause serious or fatal injuries.
“We know that violent crime and drug dealing can blight an area and it’s vital that we continue this two-way communication with the community so we know what the issues are and we can take action, as we have done today.
“By working together, we can make a real difference to the quality of life of local people, helping to rejuvenate their neighbourhood and build a healthier and safer community. Keep passing on information and we will take positive action.”
