We are appealing for information after a fatal collision on the East Lancs Road in Norris Green this evening (Wednesday 10 November).
Just before 5.10pm, we received a report that a silver Ford Focus car was in collision with a pedestrian near the junction with Stopgate Lane.
Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 50s, was taken to hospital for his injuries where he sadly passed away.
We are working to formally identify the man and inform his next of kin.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.
Road closures in place on the East Lancs Road and on Stopgate Lane, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
Inspector Rob Ross said: “An investigation has been launched into this tragic incident and we are keen to speak to anyone with information.
“If you witnessed the collision, or were driving past at the time and have any dashcam footage, please get in touch as it may assist our enquiries.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call our Matrix Roads Policing Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email [email protected] or DM @MerPolCC on Twitter quoting reference 742 of 10 November.
