Detectives investigating a sexual assault in Upton last month have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with enquiries.

At around 11.20pm on Monday 11 October it was reported that a woman was sexually assaulted whilst she was waiting at a bus stop outside the Horse & Jockey pub on Arrowe Park Road.

A man made inappropriate comments towards the victim and sexually assaulted her.

No injuries were reported but the woman was left distressed by the incident and is being supported by specialist officers.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the man responsible, and detectives have issued images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Lynsay Armbruster said: “This was a shocking incident that no one should have to go through. Thankfully the woman involved was brave enough to report this to police and we can fully investigate what happened to prevent these types of offences.

“We are very keen to speak to this man, as we believe he could have valuable information about this incident which would help our enquiries.

“If you recognise him, or were on Arrowe Park Road near the bus stop at the time of this incident and saw anything suspicious please contact us. Any information you have could be vital to our investigation.”

If you recognise the man pictured, or have any information, contact Merseyside Police social media desk via Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’. You can also call 101 quoting reference 21000709743 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their website here: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously.
