Detectives are continuing to appeal for information following the murder of a woman in Stoneycroft last Thursday, 25 November.
At around 4.55pm, emergency services were called to The Green in Stoneycroft to reports that a woman had been found in a house. She was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following formal identification this weekend, we are now able to confirm that the victim is 47-year-old Malak Adabzadeh, an Iranian woman who resided in the Stoneycroft area.
We are also issuing an image of Malak, who was also known as Katy, on behalf of her family.
Her family have also issued the following tribute:
“Katy was a loving mother, lovely sister, wife and daughter. She was generous, kind and would always help anyone.
“Katy will be missed terribly. As a family we ask for the communities support at this time to find out what has happened to our beloved Katy.”
Three men (two aged 21 and 57 from Stoneycroft, and one aged 46 years from Norris Green) remain in custody for questioning, and extensive enquiries continue.
Detective Superintendent Cheryl Rhodes said: “Members of Malak’s family are being supported by specialist officers after this tragic incident. We offer our sincere condolences to all of those people affected by the terrible events of last Thursday, and will continue to update and support her family, friends and the wider community when we can.
“At this early stage, we are keeping an open mind as to the motive, but one of those lines of enquiry is that it may have been for domestic or other cultural reasons.
“I’d appeal to anyone with information, whether from the Iranian community within Liverpool, or anyone who knew Malak, to come forward as a matter of urgency. Likewise if you live locally and saw heard or captured anything, let us know. If necessary, we have an interpreter and language line solutions to getting information to us, and work closely with partners including Liverpool Domestic Abuse Service on 0151 494 2222, Merseyside IDVA services, and Savera UK who can be contacted via 0800 107 0726.
“I’d also ask that anyone with information only provides it in the following ways, and doesn’t comment on social media platforms as this can jeopardise our vital enquiries. Thank you.”
Anyone with information on this incident can contact @MerPolCC, 101 or @CrimestoppersUK, anonymously on 0800 555 111 with reference 21000820292.
If someone is in immediate danger they should dial 999 and speak to an operator but we also accept that openly speaking is not always an option.
