We have arrested one man and one woman after approximately 1.5kg of class A drugs were seized in Huyton.

At around 9.50pm last night (Monday 8 November) police who were on patrol on Long View Drive stopped a taxi with a passenger inside behaving suspiciously. Police searched the passenger and found 11 wraps of powder suspected to be cocaine and a large block of cannabis.

A 19-year-old man, from Whiston was then arrested on suspicion of possession with intention to supply a Class A drug.

He was taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning by detectives and remains in custody.

Following the arrest, investigating officers then searched an address in Knowsley where they found large amounts of what was suspected to be cocaine hidden in a cupboard in the living room, digital scales, and packaging used to carry drugs.

A large plastic bag containing approximately 25 golf ball sized packages of white powder suspected to be cocaine and 10 wraps of the same substance were also were seized from the property. Each amount was taken by police for testing.

A 21-year-old woman from Whiston who was in the house was arrested on suspicion of possession with intention to supply a Class A drug and remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Chris Smith said: “Thanks to the swift action of our officers who spotted the man we later arrested and a lengthy, thorough search at the property huge amounts of dangerous drugs that were hidden in the fireplace and storage cupboards of the house have been seized and taken off our streets.

“This proves how dedicated we are in removing any drugs that could seriously affect residents and spread misery in our communities.

“If you have any information about suspected drug dealing in your area please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
